Card Playing Trend in Young People Continues
About 2.9 Million Young People Gamble on Cards in Average Week
The
rate for monthly card playing by 14-22 year old males increased 20%
between the 2004 and 2005 surveys. Card players are also more
likely to report gambling on Internet sites. Annenberg Public

College Poker Championship
A Google search for “College Poker Championship” revealed
3,830,000 hits. (June 1, 2006).
College Poker Championship finished its third annual tournament May
21, 2006. The participation in the 2005 event was up 10 fold over
2004 to 25,000 participants from 55 countries. CPC III brought in
33,000 students. It is advertised as a way to “secure your college
future and enrich the lives of the less fortunate” and claims to be
a “unique community upliftment initiative.” Students can earn as
much recruiting other students for the tournament as by playing in
the tournament.
